Last updated 26 August 2026. These terms govern your use of avsupply.co.za and any order you place with us. Please read them before ordering. By placing an order you accept them.
Your attention is specifically drawn to the sections headed Stock and availability, Pricing, Product information, Cancelling an order, Delivery, and Limitation of liability. Those sections limit our obligations and our liability to you. Section 49 of the Consumer Protection Act requires us to bring them to your attention, and placing an order confirms that we have.
Who we are
AV Supply is an online retailer of commercial audio visual equipment, based in KwaZulu-Natal and selling throughout South Africa. In these terms, we, us and AV Supply mean AV Supply, and you means the person or business placing an order.
You can reach us at hello@avsupply.co.za. It is the fastest way to get a person, and it is where every query about an order should go.
Definitions
- Order means a request you submit through this site to buy goods from us.
- Special order item means anything we bring in, configure, build or procure specifically for you rather than sell from available stock. This includes indent and imported items, configured systems, and non standard specifications.
- Working day means Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays.
- Consumer has the meaning given to it in the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
Using this site
You may browse, search and order. You may not scrape the catalogue, copy it systematically, attempt to interfere with the site or its security, or use it in a way that degrades it for anyone else.
How an order works
Placing an order is an offer to buy. It is not a concluded sale, and we are not bound by it until we accept it.
None of the following is acceptance: submitting the order, receiving an order number, receiving an automated acknowledgement email, or your payment being taken or authorised. A sale comes into existence only when we confirm to you that the order is being fulfilled or has been dispatched.
Between your offer and our acceptance we review the order. We may accept it, hold it, limit the quantity, or decline it, on any of these grounds:
- The item is out of stock, or our supplier can no longer supply it
- The price or a specification shown was wrong
- Product information turned out to be inaccurate or out of date
- We suspect fraud, or we cannot verify the payment or the person placing the order
- The delivery address cannot be served, or supplying you would breach a legal, licensing or manufacturer restriction
Where we decline or cancel, we refund you in full for anything not supplied. Where we can, we will offer you a corrected price or an alternative first rather than simply cancelling.
Cancelling an order
You can cancel before we accept the order, at no cost.
After acceptance, whether we can still cancel depends on how far the order has moved. Once an order has been allocated stock, configured, procured from a supplier specifically for you, or handed to a courier, cancellation may not be possible, or may carry the costs we have already incurred.
Special order items generally cannot be cancelled once we have placed them with the supplier, because they were bought specifically for you.
This section does not affect your seven day cooling off right after delivery under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, which is set out in our Returns and Refunds Policy, or any other right you have as a consumer.
Stock and availability
We do not hold most of our catalogue in our own warehouse. Stock is sourced from suppliers, and any availability figure or in stock indication on this site is guidance based on the best information we have at that moment, not a guarantee and not a reservation.
Availability, lead times and specifications on supplier sourced items can change between your order and fulfilment.
Where an item is not immediately available, the product page shows a lead time rather than a stock figure. Lead times are estimates given in good faith and can move if a supplier or an import is delayed.
If an item you have paid for turns out to be unavailable, you choose: wait for it, swap it for something else, or take a full refund.
Pricing
All prices are shown in South African Rand.
We take care to price the catalogue correctly, but a catalogue this size will occasionally carry an error. Where a price is obviously, inadvertently or manifestly wrong, we are not obliged to sell at it. If we spot such an error after you have ordered, we will contact you before dispatch and you can confirm at the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.
Every order is subject to a pricing check before fulfilment. Where that check shows a material discrepancy, we may decline the order, cancel it, or come back to you with the corrected price for your confirmation.
Much of what we sell is imported. Exchange rate movement, a supplier reprice, changes in import duty or freight cost, and allocation constraints can all change our cost between your order and dispatch. Where that materially changes the price, we will contact you with the revised figure before dispatch, and you can confirm or cancel for a full refund. We will not silently charge you more than you agreed.
On special order items, the supplier may revise price, lead time, specification or availability after we have placed the order. Where that happens we will put the revised terms to you, and you can confirm or cancel that item.
Prices can change without notice. The price that applies to your order is the one shown when you place it, subject to the checks above.
Product information, images and specifications
Specifications, dimensions, compatibility notes and technical detail originate with manufacturers and suppliers. We check what we publish and write it in our own words, but we do not warrant that every figure is current, complete or free of error, and manufacturers change specifications and documentation without telling their resellers.
We reserve the right to correct product information at any time, and to cancel an order where an inaccuracy was material to it.
Images are there to show you what a product looks like. Finishes, bundled accessories, packaging, labelling and hardware revisions can differ from what is pictured. Where the model supplied materially conforms to what you ordered, a difference in packaging, labelling or minor cosmetic detail is not a defect.
Where a specific detail matters to your installation, email us before you order and we will confirm it in writing. A written confirmation from us is something you can rely on. A catalogue page is guidance.
Special order and configured systems
Some items are brought in to order, built to a specification, or supplied as part of a configured system. These carry different rules and we will say so clearly before you commit.
Once a special order is placed with the supplier it usually cannot be cancelled or returned, because it was ordered specifically for you. Lead times, pricing and availability on these items are less predictable than on stocked lines, and are subject to the pricing section above.
Delivery, risk and ownership
Delivery terms are set out in our Shipping and Delivery Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Dispatch and delivery dates are estimates only, unless we have confirmed a specific date to you in writing. We are not liable for a delay caused by a courier, a supplier, or anything else outside our reasonable control, though we will chase it on your behalf and keep you informed.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes only once we have received full payment in cleared funds, and until then the goods remain ours.
We strongly recommend you do not book installers, hire equipment, or commit to an event date until the goods are physically with you. Delivery estimates are not commitments and we do not carry the cost of arrangements made around them.
Returns and your rights as a consumer
Our Returns and Refunds Policy sets out how to return something and what we will do about it. It forms part of these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Where anything here conflicts with those Acts, the Acts apply and the rest of these terms carry on unaffected.
Electronic communication
When you order, you agree that we may contact you electronically about that order, including order confirmations, dispatch notices and delivery updates. These are not marketing and you cannot unsubscribe from them while an order is open. Marketing email is separate and always optional.
Intellectual property
The layout and design of this site, our product descriptions, our buying guides, our photography, our pricing presentation and the software behind it are owned by or licensed to AV Supply, and are protected by copyright.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, republish or otherwise exploit any part of it without our written permission, except where the law expressly allows it. Manufacturer trade marks and product images belong to their owners and appear here to identify the goods we sell.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, special, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, from an order, from a delay, or from our inability to supply. That includes lost profit, lost business, lost data, wasted expenditure, and the cost of installation labour, venue hire or contractor time booked around a delivery date that moved.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability is capped at the lower of the value of the goods concerned or the amount you actually paid for them, unless the law requires otherwise.
Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act, and nothing in it limits your remedies for goods that are defective.
Events outside our control
We are not in breach of these terms, and are not liable for any resulting delay or failure, where performance is prevented or delayed by something outside our reasonable control. That includes:
- Load shedding, grid failure, and interruption to power or water
- Courier delay, supplier delay, and failure of an import or shipping route
- Strike, lockout, go slow and other industrial action, whether ours or a third party’s
- Failure or outage of telecommunications, internet, hosting or payment networks
- Cyber incident, including attack on us or on a provider we depend on
- Fire, flood, storm, epidemic and other natural events
- Act of government, change in law, sanction, customs or regulatory interruption
- War, civil unrest, riot and looting
If such an event continues long enough to make the order unworkable, either of us may cancel the affected part of it and we will refund you for anything not supplied.
Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which is written to the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
If part of these terms does not hold
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce something immediately, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published here when you place an order is the version that governs it, so the date at the top matters.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes fall to the courts of KwaZulu-Natal, without affecting your right to approach the National Consumer Commission, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, or any other forum the Consumer Protection Act gives you.
